Woodsworth’s cooling centre is the Penthouse party room (top floor, mid‑rise) to provide relief from the heat and also hydration (water).
When it’s open as a cooling centre: During official heat‑warning alerts (high temperature + humidity that could affect health). However this common room is also available for member drop-in use during days and evenings when not booked for an event.
Access: Scan your fob at the door.
The Penthouse has a sink, fridge, stove, microwave and some dishes. Please do your part in keeping the space tidy—wash dishes and clear any leftovers after each use.
By City of Toronto bylaw, any apartment building with at least one amenity must keep at least one shared space at ≤ 26 °C from June 1 to Sept 30 if not all units have cooling. Residents must be informed of the location and operating hours of cooled amenity spaces and other heat‑relief areas.
