Woodsworth has bylaws and policies to help the Board to govern, the Management to manage, and members to know their rights, privileges and responsibilities.<\/p>\n
The three key bylaws are Organizational, Occupancy, and Membership (Member Approval and Unit Allocation). <\/strong>Additionally the Spending Bylaw <\/strong>has important information about budgets, spending, and bidding and contracts. All have been approved by the members since 2019, replacing much older bylaws.<\/p>\n is about governance, about how members make decisions and manage the cooperative’s affairs, including elections and financial management, all aimed at maintaining a democratic and member-focused organization. Good governance means a strong, well-led board and an engaged co-op membership.<\/p>\n There are also a Spending Bylaw<\/a> <\/strong>and an Investment Policy<\/a>,<\/strong> both approved in December 2025. It sets out the rules for how the Co-op\u2019s money is spent and who must give permission for each type of spending. Ultimate control of spending rests with the membership who must approve the annual budgets each year.<\/p>\n Human Rights Bylaw, Member Directory, Newsletter (about the Editorial Committee), Housing Charge Subsidy, Move-Out, Reconciliation (about the Conflict Mediation Committee), and Rules (about pets and health and safety) bylaws.<\/p>\n There are two maintenance-related bylaws. The Ontario Co-operative Corporations Act (the Co-op Act<\/strong>) and the Ontario Human Rights Code<\/strong> are laws that affect things in these By-laws.
