We’ve noticed significant charges for plumbing issues of late, some as high as 1000$.<\/p>\n

Many issues have to do with clearing clogged drains.<\/p>\n

A few simple measures will go a long way toward reducing these costs. The more we spend to maintain our buildings the more our housing charges could increase up to cover these costs. It benefits us all to keep our homes well maintained.<\/p>\n

We’d like to share the following, hopefully helpful, tips.<\/p>\n

To prevent clogged drains<\/strong>,\u00a0avoid putting substances like grease, food scraps, hair, and soap scum down the drain.\u00a0Regularly flush drains with hot water and use drain screens or hair catchers.\u00a0Also, be mindful of what you flush down the toilet.<\/p>\n

Here’s a more detailed breakdown:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kitchen Drains:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Don’t pour grease down the drain: Allow it to cool, solidify, and then dispose of it in the green bin (organics).<\/p>\n

Use a sink strainer:\u00a0This will catch food scraps and prevent them from entering the drain.<\/p>\n

Flush regularly with hot water:\u00a0Once a week, pour boiling water down the drain to help melt away minor buildup.<\/p>\n

Consider using baking soda and vinegar:\u00a0This natural method can help break down some blockages, but may not be effective for major clogs.<\/p>\n

Don’t flush coffee grounds or eggshells:\u00a0They can contribute to clogs.<\/p>\n

Bathroom Drains:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Use a shower drain hair catcher:\u00a0These mesh screens or perforated covers will prevent hair from going down the drain.<\/p>\n

Brush hair before showering:\u00a0This removes loose hair before it enters the drain.<\/p>\n

Clean drain stoppers regularly:\u00a0Remove and clean them frequently to prevent soap scum buildup.<\/p>\n

Be mindful of what you flush:\u00a0Only flush toilet paper and human waste.<\/p>\n

Other Tips<\/strong>:<\/p>\n
